Havana, Cuba. - Cuban trumpet player Jose Miguel Crego, artistically known as El Greco, just released a new record under the title “Ta' bueno Jazz”, with ten tracks composed by Obaina Kali, Angel Someillan and Eliseo Grenet.
El Greco’s cadence and style stands out in every theme of this CD, in which he featured young musicians that play solos of flute, drums, sax, bass and cymbals; each in his own style.
Luna Manzanares and Francis del Río’s voices also converge in “Ta' bueno Jazz.” They contribute their ways and styles to render a unique demonstration of good Cuban jazz.
The latest trends of jazz and its deep-rooted forms stand out in this phonogram, in a contradiction that mixes and enhances both the traditional and the contemporary.
El Greco began his professional life in 1976 in the Big Band of Capri Hotel. Then he played sometimes in jazz festivals at Salon Libertad of Hotel Nacional. Later on, he joined groups such as Los Yakos, Afrocuba, Galaxia and the Cuban Orchestra of Modern Music.
He also played in Irakere, a band with which he made several international tours and recorded three albums, one of concert music, titled “Tierra en Trance” and two of danceable music: “Ruta 43” and “Bailando asi.”
