
The Wax Museum in Bayamo, the only one of its kind in the country, unveiled the wax sculpture of Elio Revé Matos, the eternal Papa Changuí, percussionist and composer who provided a solid legacy to the Cuban music.
The event was chaired by the main political and governmental authorities of the eastern province as well as Elito Revé and his family, musicians of the Charangón orchestra and Nereida López Labrada, general secretary of the Union of Culture Workers.
Cándido Fabré was also present, who declared that the greatest thing about Elio Revé Matos was not his music, but his heart to help everyone.
Elito Revé was very excited to see the figure of his father and expressed his gratitude to the main authorities of the province and to the Barrios family who created the impressive work.
Prior to the unveiling, Elito Reve donated several accessories from his father to the Wax Museum and the Charangón was recognized with his group by the Provincial Directorate of Culture in Granma as an orchestra that spreads Cuban popular music.
